Security Features
Ward Track incorporates the most advanced security technology providing a secure tracking environment for your entire vehicle tracking data. Ward has integrated many of the latest security technology along with traditional methods to produce a secure and flexible tracking environment.
Enhanced Password Security
Two factor authentication enhances standard password security by requiring a second piece of security information be provided by the user in order to login.
· Customizable system enabling implementation of two factor authentication password protection
· Can require user to supply a specific piece of data such as a birthdate
· Configurable for sophisticated electronic key card system
· Flexibility to be implemented as an extensible plug-in enabling different sites to enforce their own custom security requirements
HTTPS/SSL Encryption
Ward uses HTTPS encryption to ensure the highest level of security when transmitting your data over the web.
· Ensures all information transmitted is encrypted using 40 or 128 bit cipher technology
· Supports SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption through HTTPS, which is the secure version of HTTP
User, Group & Resource System Security
Ward Track employs a user, group and resource system of security which is similar to the Windows model. The basis is that users belong to one or more groups, and each group can have one or more resources assigned to it.
· Each resource provides a single permission
· Approximately 70 individual permissions to control access to resources as granularly as needed
· By default, the system is configured with a general set of groups reflecting common roles within the system
· Flexibility to create as many new groups as you need
Terms of Use
Ward Track allows you on a per-account basis, to define terms of use that users of the system must comply to before they can use the system.
· First time users will be shown the terms of use for the system at log in
· Users must agree to terms in order to successfully access the system
· Terms of use can be modified requiring existing users to re-comply with the terms at their next login
Authenticate User Access
Ward Track offers two methods to authenticate a user requesting access to the system, NT Challenge Response and Anonymous Secured Login.
NT Challenge Response
· Integrated security system that is built into Windows servers
· Provides robust security and single sign-on transparency when accessed on the local network.
· When IIS is configured to not authenticate users, then this security system is automatically employed
Anonymous Secured Login
· Employed when IIS is configured to accept anonymous access and does not tie in the network user accounts
· Users are directed to a login screen and asked to provide a username
· Upon verifying the password, the system accepts the login
Password Rule Enforcement
Ward Track enables its administrators to enforce password rules that users must comply with in order to gain access to data.
· Elevates system security by eliminating commonly used passwords that hackers employ
· Allows for setting up rules such as passwords criteria
· Utilizes RegEX (Regular Expression) which is a very common and flexible way to generate pattern matching rules
Limit Multiple Simultaneous logins
Ward Track allows the administrator to restrict, at a user-by-user level, the ability of a user to be logged in multiple times from different places.
· Enhances system security by ensuring that users do not share logins to the system
· Allows certain accounts (such as service accounts or groups of temporary employees) to have this capability
Near Real Time Permission and Event Enforcement
Each Ward Track screen polls the server at an interval set by the administrator, usually every 30 to 45 seconds. This check gathers information for things such as permission changes, user lockout, systems messages and other system events.
· Permission changes or other events are enforced on the client without client participation
· If the administrator locks the user out of the system or changes their permissions, the effect will be propagated out to the client typically within 30 to 45 seconds
· Ensures that security related issues take effect on the client even if the client is away from the screen at the time
User Lockout
Ward Track allows the administrator to temporarily lock out single users or groups of users using a responsive frontend screen.
· Lockout function is useful during times of scheduled maintenance or periods of system downtime
· During lockout, you can specify the message users will see when they try to use the system.
Activation and Deactivation Dates
Ward Track allows you to set activation and deactivation dates for users and groups created in the system.
· Users or groups can be setup ahead of time, but are not activated until the specified date is reached
· Active users of the system can have their account expire if an expiration date is setup
· Useful for temporary workers, such as consultants who have time limited contracts
· Ensures that the security of the system is maintained
Last Login Date & Time
Ward Track displays on the Dashboard screen the time that has elapsed since your last login to the system.
· Elapsed time is displayed as the number of days, hours, and minutes since you last logged on
· Allows users to quickly read and understand the information
· Enables user to be the first line of security in determining if account has been compromised
Records Number of Failed Login Attempts
· Ward Track displays the number of failed logon attempts since users last login
· Appears on the Dashboard in red and allows the user to see if there have been unauthorized attempts
